How does the colonisation of roots by mycorrhizal fungi suppress infection by root parasitic weeds – a role for strigolactones

I am a second year PhD student at The University of Sheffield.  My research project is attempting to understand the molecular mechanisms involved in morphological changes seen in rice plants, such as a reduction in shoot branching and stem height, when infected with the obligate root parasite Striga hermonthica.
